Our story

5280 Opportunity Project began as an idea in 2020 that became a reality in the summer of 2023. Three individuals passionate about the transformative power of learning opportunities outside of the classroom founded 5280 Opportunity Project with the sincere hope of being able to open doors for students across Colorado through pursuing their passions and/or by being exposed to high quality extra curricular experiences. At the center of the organization is a deeply held belief that creating a socially just world requires actors within and outside of the traditional education system to provide access to opportunity for students to be able to thrive. With colleges and universities going test optional, extra curricular opportunities are more important than ever to offer to students as that is the growing inequality admissions representatives are seeing.
